🏔️ Running-X integrates UTMB World into Race Calendar: global trail running in a single search

Those who practice trail running know it well: finding reliable, official and comparable competitions has never been easy. Information is often fragmented across different sites, partial calendars, and complex qualification systems. It is precisely from this real need that the Race Calendar at Running-X was born, the new tool that unifies and organizes running, trail running and endurance sports competitions across the board.

Today the Race Calendar takes a decisive step: it has officially incorporated the UTMB World events, the absolute reference for international ultra-trail.

🌍 What is UTMB World and why is it central to trail running?

UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) is not just a race: it's the world symbol of ultra-trail. The first edition of the UTMB took place in 2003 in Chamonix, with the famous ring of 171 km and over 10,000 meters of elevation gain around Mont Blanc. Since then, UTMB has become the global benchmark for long-distance trail running.

Over time, UTMB has evolved into UTMB World Series, an international ecosystem that today includes:

  • 50+ official World Series events
  • thousands of qualified races all over the world
  • competitions distributed in over 100 countries
  • exclusive focus on trail running e ultra-trail

🧭 UTMB World Series: How the system works

UTMB World introduced one of the most advanced and meritocratic systems in modern trail running.

🔢 UTMB Index
A performance index that evaluates:

  • distance
  • difference in altitude
  • race time
  • competitive level of the event

The Index is valid 2 years and is essential to access the UTMB finals in Chamonix (50K, 100K, 100M).

💎 Running Stones
The Running Stones are obtained by completing UTMB qualifying races and allow you to participate in the ballot to access the finals. The more Stones you have, the greater your chances of being drawn.

🌐 World Series Events
The UTMB World Series races guarantee:

  • very high organizational standards
  • certified routes
  • international visibility
  • direct access to the Index and Stones system
