🍎 Running-X Health Tool: Monitor your body to improve your health and performance
In running and trail running, performance doesn't just depend on training and mileage.
The body is the real engine, and knowing its characteristics is essential to train better, prevent problems and improve over time.
I Tool Health di Running-X were born with this aim: to help runners and trail runners to correctly interpret body parameters, using simple but scientifically validated indicators.
📊 What are Running-X Health Tools?
I Tool Health sono anthropometric calculators which allow us to evaluate:
- body composition
- fat distribution
- risk associated with overweight and obesity
- balance between weight, height and circumferences
👉 They do not provide clinical diagnoses, but screening tools useful for understanding whether to delve deeper with a health professional.
🔬 Why monitoring body parameters is important for runners
For runners and trail runners, monitoring body health means:
- optimize the relationship weight / performance
- reduce the risk of injury
- improve metabolic efficiency
- properly support training and nutrition
Running-X Health Tools are developed from models used by WHO, European guidelines and international scientific literature.

I'm currently online three fundamental calculators.
⚖️ Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator
What is BMI?
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is an index that relates weight and height to estimate whether a person falls within a normal weight, underweight or overweight range.
👉 Basic formula:
BMI = weight (kg) / height² (m)
Why it is useful
BMI is widely used for:
- Ratings epidemiological
- obesity risk screening
- monitoring over time
BMI limits for athletes
BMI:
- does not distinguish between fat mass and muscle mass
- may overestimate risk in muscular athletes
👉 For this reason Running-X recommends combining it with WHR e ABSI.
Calculator functions
- Standard BMI calculation
- Mode Desired BMI
- Estimate how much weight to lose or gain

📐 Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) Calculator
What is the WHR?
The Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) measures the ratio between waist and hip circumference, evaluating the distribution of body fat.
👉 Formula:
WHR = waist circumference / hip circumference
Why it's important
The WHR is considered:
- more predictive than BMI for the cardiovascular risk
- particularly useful for evaluating abdominal fat
Reference values
- Women: increased risk above 0,80
- Men: increased risk above 0,90
Per runner e trail runner
A high WHR may indicate:
- increased cardiovascular load
- increased metabolic stress
- need to intervene on power supply and loads

🧠 Body Shape Index (ABSI) Calculator
What is ABSI?
The Body Shape Index (ABSI) is an advanced indicator that evaluates the abdominal fat distribution, taking into account:
- waist circumference
- BMI
- height
It was developed in 2012 by Nir Krakauer to overcome BMI limits.
Why it is considered more accurate
Several studies have shown that ABSI:
- is more related to the mortality risk
- better identifies central obesity
- is less influenced by muscle mass
ABSI-z score
The calculator also returns the value ABSI-z, normalized for age and sex, which allows for a risk classification:
- very low
- Bass
- half
- high
- very tall

🔗 BMI, WHR, and ABSI: Why Use Them Together?
These three indicators share some key characteristics:
- they use simple body measurements
- they evaluate fat distribution
- they estimate the health risk
- they are tools of screening, non-diagnostic
👉 Used together they provide a vision much more complete compared to a single value.
💡 The added value of Running-X Health Tools
As with all sections of the site, the Health Tools also include an Integrated scientific help, where you can find:
- explanation of the formulas
- physiological meaning of the parameters
- references to studies and guidelines
- practical advice for runners and trail runners
📚 You don't just get a number, you learn how to interpret it.
🔮 The future of Tool Health
Current calculators are the basis.
In the future Running-X will introduce nuovi Tool Health to make health monitoring increasingly precise and useful for those who practice endurance sports.
