Calculation Formula

This calculator is an implementation of the well-known formula:

$$ \textcolor{var(--primary-color)}{\displaystyle \Large \textbf{t} = \frac{s}{v}} $$

Where:

  • v = Velocity
  • s = Space
  • t = Time

Example:

If a person runs 10 km at 12 km/h then the time required will be 50 minutes and the pace will be 5 min/km.

Of course, speed does not only exist during running, but in all possible types of locomotion, which can also be calculated here.

Locomotion almost never occurs at a constant speed. Runners, cyclists, swimmers, and the like sometimes move faster, sometimes slower. Therefore, the speed calculated or entered here is an average value.

In this scenario, any pauses or even rest periods during the activity are taken into account, so the average speed is not calculated over the actual movement time, but over the entire total duration. As a result, over very long periods of time, the average speed will be significantly lower.

Pace, the time per kilometer or mile is the inverse of the speed; the higher this value, the slower the speed. This information is used for some sports and other purposes. This is also called Pace.

Use

  • Choose the Measurement System:
    • Metric
    • Imperial

There are two modes: Speed and Pace

Speed
  • Select the unit of measurement:
    • If you have chosen the Metric System, you can enter:
      • Distance (Kilometers or Meters)
      • Speed (km/h or m/s)

    • If you have chosen the Imperial System, you can enter:
      • Distance (Miles, Yards or Feet)
      • Speed (mph, yd/s or ft/s)

  • Enter the values and calculate:
    • If you have chosen the Metric System, you can get:
      • Total Time (d h m s)
      • Pace (time/km)

    • If you have chosen the Imperial System, you can get:
      • Total Time (d h m s)
      • Pace (time/miles)
